Rivian Wheel Vinyl Decals
When originally configuring my Launch Edition Rivian R1T I had a decision to make, do I go for the dark wheels, which I thought looked best, and splurge the extra $3500 or do I got with the 20" All Terrains and pocket that difference. Well as I thought about it I realized I can have both. Before I ever got my hands on my own truck I spent time researching vinyl, vinyl cutting and photoshoping the looks I want to try. By creating the perfectly fitted "U" or staple shape to cover up the polished bits on the stock wheel I would be able to black out or gray out my wheels.
Once I got my truck I went to work, and I am now proud to share this product with anyone interested. These vinyls are cut out of the same quality vinyl automotive professionals use to wrap entire cars and make those goofy family stickers for the back window. Application is super easy. All you need is a spray bottle filled with water and a drop of soap, a small squeegee or an old credit card will do, some rubbing/isopropyl alcohol and a soft rag, a heat gun or hiar dryer is highly recommended for finishing touches. The vinyl sheet will include enough "U" shapes to cover all 4 or 5 wheels with a couple extras in case you damage one later. See the video for application steps.
The vinyl decals are removable at any time, just pick a corner and peel them off if you have a change of heart which also makes them a little more attention needing when cleaning. When wiping the decal wipe with its shape and avoid rubbing up against corners as that can cause them to lift or curl.
We offer 3 colors, matte black, gunmetal and caliper yellow. Gunmetal is a 99% match of the original Rivian wheel color which makes the wheel look as if it came right off the factory floor but in one color. The black gives the wheel a little more detail and balances well with the color of the tire. The yellow matches the color of the Launch Edition calipers and gives the truck a bit of a color pop.
When designing this product I noticed Rivian's wheels are not all perfectly identical, the polished portion was a larger surface area on one of my wheels. It is not a huge deal but some silver might show around the edges, see the side by side image above, it is unnoticeable from more than a couple of feet away.
