Tow Hook License Plate Mount for Rivian R1T/R1S

Tow Hook License Plate Mount for Rivian R1T/R1S

When it comes time to mount the mandatory front license plate on your Rivian R1T or R1S the factory process is to punch two holes in your brand new truck. This was not an option I even considered so I set out to design a better way. I gave the included license plate frame some thought and realized I might be able to use it as a base and not let it go to a landfill.

The mount I created interfaces with the Rivian included frame. Simply undo one screw, open the hinged mount and clamp it back around either side tow hook. Tighten down the included color matching hardware and you are set. The mount is intended to sit tightly on the towhook, so you may have to squeeze the two halves together before tightening the screw.  Now take the frame, add your plate to it and snap one of the 3 available rows over the BEM pinch style mount. Push down and the frame will lock into place. To remove, press the textured paddle, which is hidden behind the license plate, towards yourself and pull up.

The license plate sits between the front bumper sensors and does not interfere with the autonomous functions of your R1T or R1S. It is now easy to quickly remove the frame for a car show, photoshoot, car wash or off roading and store it in the net located in the front trunk.

If for some reason you no longer have your factory R1T license plate bracket or want an even more minimalist look we offer a bracket that attaches to the back of your license plate and locks into the Tow Hook Mount in the same way.

All the mounts are designed in California and professionally 3D printed in New York. The finish is not like a typical home printer, we use a layer by layer process called Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) for all Nylon polyamide 12 (plastic) prints. These are very durable and yield a clean look.

  • Tips

The outermost openings/rows work best on the frame, if mounting on the passenger side, use the right most opening (looking through the front of the plate) and vice versa for the other side.

Keep the lock down screw loose and slide the mount left to right with the frame attached to center it between the sensors, then lock it down.

You can also remove the mount with the plate and frame still attached, undo the screw that holds the two clamped parts together and unclamp the whole unit, mount, frame and license plate.
